March 5, 2010 Leave a comment

I came across this today and had to share it.  Basically a woman calls a tech support blog asking why she can’t connect to her “linksys” internet anymore…  watch to find out what her problem was and why you shouldn’t use open access wifi.

Mr Diety

Mr. Deity Cast ShotI discovered the Mr. Diety show on YouTube a few days ago and have enjoyed the few episodes I’ve watched.  Its a commedy show that likes to poke fun at the oddities that are make up mainstream Christianity.  The authors pride themselves on sticking to their source material.  I also recently found out that the creator, Brian Dalton, come from a Mormon background and was interviewed on the Mormon Expressions podcast, which by the way is a great interview that I think you all will enjoy.

I’ve also included the first episode where Mr. Diety and his helper Larry are trying to decide what “evil” they are going to allow to exist in their newly created universe. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Zombies, a Neurobiological Perspective

Brains, all zombies crave them.  Why do zombies desire brains and what do zombies do with them once they’ve got their zombified fingers on them?  I don’t know if we will ever be able to answer this question, well at least not until the impending zombie apocalypse comes.  There are two main theories as to why zombies want brains (although most people assume it is some combination of the two):

  1. to eat them
  2. to infect them

If you are an unfortunate soul and your brains fall into the hands of zombies there are two commonly accepted fates for you

  1. you become zombie food
  2. you become a zombie

Again most people assume that in reality it is probably a combination of the two.  I’ve decided that its time I do something useful with my extensive neuroscientific education. Hence the title Zombies, a Neurobiological Perspecive.

The Motahn Culture

So today while I was talking with Aubrey I pulled a Bill Shakespeare and invented my own word.

Aubrey and I love to contrast our what like was like for me growing up in Utah and her in Massachusetts. In our conversations, I’ve been getting stick of saying mormon-utah as it takes up way to many syllables and it doesn’t accurately communicates the idea it’s meant to represent (as mormon-utah culture can be seen many places outside Utah).

So today while we were talking I used motahn in lieu of mormon-utah and Aubrey got it.  So I’m letting you all know that this word is hot off the press and ready for your immediate use.

Actually the word I used initially used was mormo-tahn and Aubrey shortened it to motahn. So really she deserves credit for this new word, and I repent of my attempt to commit verbal-theft.

mitfml

I discovered this site a few weeks ago http://mitfml.com its a remake of http://harvardfml.com.  Its basically a site where undergraduate (and the occasiona graduate students) rants about the terrible situation there in. I have to admit of few of these have really made me laugh enough to draw glances from a professor who’s lecture I should be listening to.

I’m not expecting you to get any of the jokes on there. After 3 years of MIT I still don’t understand half of the jargon used on this site.
