Music you should check out
I’m always on the lookout for new music and love it whenever I discover a new band. To share music I love with all of you I decided to share few bands that I’ve fallen in love. I’ve provided links to a few of my favorite songs in the Amazon.com MP3 store. I prefer Amazon over iTunes because the music has a higher bitrate (better quality), the tracks aren’t laden with DRM, and sometimes you can find really great deals.
The Weakerthans
Mark exposed me to this band a when I visited him in San Luis Obispo. I got a few of their CD when I got home and now they are in my top 5 bands. I would suggest anybody looking for a chill indie band to check out The Weakerthans. Some of my favorite songs are:
Death Cab for Cutie (DCfC)
I love DCfC, they have been in my top 5 for well over 18 months now. I discovered this band by listening The Postal Service. I would highly recommend these guys if you are looking for new music. There are too many great songs to pick from but here are a couple that I feel like most anybody would like:
- Grapevine Fires – the first song on the new album that really grabbed me, probably one of DCfC more emo songs
- Little Bribes – a recent favorite that I can’t enough of lately
- We Looked Like Giants – This is a DCfC classic, I love this song
- Such Great Heights (by The Postal Service)
Bloc Party
I don’t remember how I discovered this band, probably via last.fm. I remember this band having a very original sound that caught my attention quickly. Since then I’ve been trying to think of a good way to describe this band and I guess if I had to specify a genre of music I would say they are : Metro/Techno/Indie. They have a really fresh sound with interesting vocals. I don’t see myself hanging on to these guys for a long time but they make great mustic for running or coding. Also as I was watching the Boston Marathon I noticed that Bloc Party was playing in the background, so they must be pretty main stream. Anyway check em out here are a few sample tracks:
Have you head of “Owl City”. I think you would like them. They also have a reminiscent sound to Postal Service.
Luv you bro.
Great band! I’ve been listening to them all day! You should also check out Swimming with Dolphins
I’m glad you like The Weakerthans. What CDs do you have of theirs?
